Faculty Job Satisfaction Survey Coming Feb. 10

February 3, 2020

Dear Full-time Faculty,

On Saturday, Baylor celebrated the 175th anniversary of its founding. Throughout our history, Baylor faculty have been central to the University’s amazing journey. Your investment in our classrooms has launched thousands of students on the pursuit of their calling. Your expertise in your disciplines has yielded thousands of published articles and books. Your belief in our mission has led to immeasurable service to Waco and our global community.

In the coming days, you will hear about Baylor’s partnership with Harvard’s COACHE Faculty Job Satisfaction Survey. This survey confidentially collects data directly from faculty with the explicit purpose of identifying areas in which Baylor can improve. As we begin the next phase in our collective journey, Provost Nancy Brickhouse is calling upon faculty to reflect upon where they are today and consider ways that we might improve the academic environment and help faculty flourish in all aspects of their job.

The survey will open on Feb. 10, but over the next week we ask faculty members to take the opportunity to reflect and pray about their Baylor journey. It is important that you participate in the survey so that we can collect the richest possible data. The survey will ask you to assess areas such as the nature of your work, policies and practices, your experiences regarding promotion and tenure, and the general climate, culture and level of collegiality on our campus. We will be sharing the results in Fall 2020 and soon thereafter begin addressing the areas identified as the biggest concerns for faculty.

We are excited to be on this journey with you and are here to serve you,

Jason MacGregor and Lenore Wright
Co-Chairs of the Task Force on Faculty Job Satisfaction
